CLOUD-BASED BUSINESS PRODUCTIVITY
Teamwork
A selective approach to external capital for a profitable, founder-led business.

The context
Teamwork had already achieved what many venture-backed businesses aspire to. Global scale, strong recurring revenues, loyal customers, and sustained profitability, all built without external capital. The strategic question was not whether capital was available. It was how to retain control over if, when, and why capital would be introduced, and on what terms. This required careful positioning of the business, not as a venture story chasing growth at all costs, but as a capital-efficient, founder-led SaaS platform with exceptional optionality.
The contribution
We worked closely with Teamwork to define a long-term capital strategy rooted in positioning first, clarifying how the business should be perceived by potential capital partners before any funding was pursued.
The company was positioned as a rare SaaS asset. Founder-controlled, profitable, globally scaled, and disciplined in execution. This reframed external capital from a necessity into a strategic choice, strengthening leverage in any engagement with investors or lenders.
When the decision was made to introduce external capital, it was done selectively and with clear intent. Growth equity and structured credit were identified as the appropriate tools to accelerate international expansion and product investment, while preserving ownership, culture, and long-term flexibility.
Access was shaped around aligned growth investors and banks experienced in supporting profitable SaaS businesses, ensuring capital accelerated momentum without distorting the operating model.
The outcome
Through a disciplined, positioning-led capital approach, Teamwork introduced external capital entirely on its own terms. This resulted in:
• $70m in growth equity from Bregal Milestone
• Structured credit facilities from multiple banks, undisclosed
This selective use of capital accelerated international growth, expanded the product portfolio, and preserved founder control and cultural integrity. It demonstrated how the right positioning and capital strategy enable exceptional businesses to scale without compromising what made them successful.
